Holographic Substrate of Reality

The Computational Lattice: Morphic Resonance, Digital Physics, and the Holographic Substrate of Reality

The foundational error of classical materialism is the assumption that physical law is an immutable set of rigid rules etched into the bedrock of reality at the moment of the Big Bang. For three centuries, reductionist science has treated the cosmos as an elaborate clockwork mechanism: space is an inert, empty container, matter is an assembly of hard billiard balls colliding through local forces, and biological organisms are meat-machines executing hardcoded genetic tapes.

This mechanical paradigm is collapsing.

When you synthesize Rupert Sheldrake’s morphic resonance with Konrad Zuse’s digital physics, David Bohm and Michael Talbot’s holographic universe, and Jacobo Grinberg’s syntergic theory, an entirely different architecture emerges. Physical matter is not the primary substrate of existence. Matter is the explicate readout—a localized shadow cast by a non-local, dynamic, and self-updating informational matrix.

1. The Substrate: Konrad Zuse and Rechnender Raum

The transition from a mechanical universe to an informational one began mathematically with computing pioneer Konrad Zuse. In his 1969 treatise Rechnender Raum (Calculating Space), Zuse proposed that space itself is not a continuous, passive vacuum. It is a discrete cellular automaton—a vast, distributed processing grid.

In Zuse’s model, what physics registers as an elementary particle—an electron, a photon, a quark—is not a tiny fragment of solid mass. It is a localized, propagating state of information. Just as a "glider" in Conway’s Game of Life travels across a grid without the cells themselves moving, physical particles are simply recurring computational patterns shifting across the nodes of space.

Mass, momentum, and charge are not inherent physical substances; they are computational outputs.

However, classical cellular automata suffer from a strict constraint: state updates are bound by local interactions, limited by the speed of light. To understand how the entire cosmic system coordinates across vast distances, the localized computing grid must be paired with a non-local organizing principle.

2. The Algorithmic Geometry: Alan Turing and Morphogenesis

Before a program can execute, it requires a morphogenetic algorithm. In 1952, Alan Turing published The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis, breaking away from pure cryptography to map how physical geometry arises in nature.

Turing proved mathematically that complex natural patterns—the stripes of a zebra, the spiral of a sunflower, the formation of limb buds—do not require a micro-manager. They emerge spontaneously through the non-linear interaction of diffusing chemical agents called morphogens. From an initially uniform, homogeneous field, pure mathematical logic spontaneously generates structure.

Turing’s universal computing thesis established that any algorithm can be executed on any physical hardware capable of state transitions. When applied to living forms, reaction-diffusion equations describe the kinetic execution of form, but they do not account for how these patterns are chosen, stabilized, and remembered across evolutionary time.

That requires an overarching software template: the morphic field.

3. The Attractor Template: Rupert Sheldrake’s Morphic Resonance

Rupert Sheldrake introduced the operational memory layer. Morphic fields are non-material regions of influence that organize form, behavior, and structural development across all scales of nature—from crystallizing molecules to biological organs and social collectives.

Crucially, Sheldrake dismantled the doctrine of eternal physical laws, replacing it with universal habits:

  • Cumulative Memory: Morphic fields are shaped by morphic resonance—the non-local transmission of formative causal influence from past similar systems to present ones.

  • Causative Formation: When a chemical compound is synthesized for the first time, it has no established morphic habit; crystallizing it in a laboratory can take months or years. But once it crystallizes in one location, the field updates. Subsequent crystallizations across the globe occur faster and more readily, without physical contact or chemical contamination.

  • Habit Over Law: The universe is not bound by immutable marble decrees. It runs on self-reinforcing probabilistic routines.

Morphic fields do not transmit standard physical energy. They act as probability shapers, pulling physical systems (including Turing’s reaction-diffusion processes) toward established structural attractors.

4. The Informational Storage: Michael Talbot and David Bohm’s Holographic Order

To explain how morphic resonance operates instantaneously without violating the local speed limits of electromagnetism, one must examine the holographic framework formulated by quantum physicist David Bohm and popularized by Michael Talbot.

Bohm demonstrated that our observable universe is divided into two operational realms:

  1. The Explicate Order: The unfolded, secondary realm of physical spacetime, separate objects, Euclidean distance, and linear time.

  2. The Implicate Order: The enfolded, primary substrate where all information is holographically integrated. Here, space and time are collapsed. Every point in the Implicate matrix contains the totality of the whole.

In a physical hologram, if you cut a film plate into a thousand pieces, each microscopic fragment retains the complete three-dimensional image, albeit at lower resolution.

This provides the exact medium for Sheldrake’s fields. Morphic resonance does not travel as an electromagnetic wave traversing physical kilometers through the Explicate Order. It operates within the Implicate substrate. Past states and distant locations are already contiguous in the enfolded matrix.

When a form stabilizes anywhere, the holographic whole updates everywhere.

5. The Transducer: Jacobo Grinberg and Syntergic Theory

If objective reality is an unbroken holographic matrix, why do we perceive a world of hard edges, solid walls, and distinct objects?

Mexican neurophysiologist Jacobo Grinberg solved this with Syntergic Theory (la Teoría Sintérgica). Grinberg asserted that the ground state of existence is a pure, pre-spatial matrix of infinite informational density, which he termed The Lattice.

The human brain does not generate consciousness, nor does it photograph an external world. The brain is an organic transducer:

  • The Neuronal Field (Campo Neuronal): The brain’s micro-tubular and bioelectric networks generate an ultra-dense, complex biomagnetic field that emanates into the Lattice.

  • The Perceptual Collapse: The interaction between the neuronal field and the universal Lattice creates an interference pattern. The brain decodes this interference pattern, transmuting raw informational density into the sensory simulation we call the physical world.

  • Empirical Validation (The Transferred Potential): Grinberg took this beyond theory. Placing human subjects in soundproof, electromagnetically shielded Faraday cages at distance, he demonstrated that when two individuals achieved coherent non-local empathy, a light flash delivered to Subject A produced an instantaneous evoked potential in the EEG readings of Subject B.

Grinberg proved empirically that human neurophysiology directly interfaces with the non-local Lattice.

6. Modern Corroboration: Bioelectricity and Information Physics

Modern twenty-first-century laboratories are confirming what these pioneers deduced:

  • Michael Levin’s Bioelectric Software: At Tufts University, developmental biologist Michael Levin has demonstrated that anatomical morphology is not hardcoded exclusively in DNA. Cellular ensembles communicate via resting membrane voltage gradients, forming dynamic bioelectric networks that store target anatomical blueprints. By altering these bioelectric voltage patterns without touching the genome, Levin’s lab can induce flatworms to grow heads at both ends or cause frogs to regenerate functional eyes on their backs. Physical matter is malleable clay governed by an informational bioelectric field.

  • The Holographic Principle (AdS/CFT): Formulated by Gerard 't Hooft and formalized by Juan Maldacena, quantum gravity has proven mathematically that a three-dimensional volume containing gravity can be completely described by a two-dimensional quantum boundary containing only informational data. Spacetime and gravity are emergent holographic projections.

  • John Archibald Wheeler’s "It from Bit": Wheeler concluded that every physical particle, field, and force derives its very existence from binary informational measurements. Matter is an information-theoretic output.

  • Mass-Energy-Information Equivalence: Physicists like Melvin Vopson have proposed that digital information carries measurable mass and physical entropy, formalizing the thermodynamic bridge between informational bits and physical mass.

Where do you draw the line between physical law and informational code?

The line does not exist.

Physical laws are not eternal, independent entities. They are the run-time outputs of an underlying computational lattice. What we call gravity, electromagnetism, and cellular anatomy are simply the stabilized, long-running equilibrium states of the cosmic code.

Morphic resonance is the universal cache-update protocol. When a pattern stabilizes within the system, the global matrix updates instantaneously across all coordinates.

The universe is not an inert rock tumbling blindly through empty space. It is a living, calculating, self-correcting holographic intelligence—and physical matter is simply its real-time display.
